	The Picture Archival Communication System or PACS has revolutionized the way Doctors look at the results of Diagnostic tests.   What does PACS do? All the diagnostic investigations done for any patient is stored in electronic format in a large computer server. For example Picture information like X-rays, Scans, Angiogram, Lap surgery, Endoscopy, and text information like Lab test reports, notes written by doctors etc are converted into electronic format and stored in the computer server.   How does this help the patient? When a patient walks into the consulting room of any doctor in our hospital their complete medical file is retrieved by the touch of a button. Present investigations can be compared to the last visit investigations. Hence the patient need not carry the results of the past tests with him/her. The Hospital also gives the complete electronic medical file to the patient in CD, if necessary, which can be viewed and analyzed by any other doctor on any normal computer.
