Features
Reception
  Main Reception has information of the patients, doctors, departments and employees in the hospital. The floor plans / map of the hospital and photographs of the doctors can also be stored in the system; Doctors appointment scheduling is done through the Reception module. The room allocation information, the exact location / bed of the patient at a particular time is constantly updated and displayed.
Registration
  The system generates a registration number for each new patient registered which is used as a unique ID for the patient’s medical record. The system captures an exhaustive set of demographic details at the time of registration. There are both mandatory and optional data sets, and the ability to change the label by configuration user at the client site. Patients can be searched out by a detailed search utility that can search by flexible data strings.
Admission, Discharge & Transfer
  The ADT system is the central control of all room allocations. Prior to admission it checks previous information of the patient and flags the operator about patient preferences and also warns if there are any payments to be made. The ADT system displays the status of all the beds of all wards in the hospital.
OPD Billing
  The Out Patient Department Billing module is used to generate bills for a particular patient with reference to the tests undergone by him, the Health Check Plans, Day Care Surgery Packages and Day Care Surgeries apart from the Consultation with the doctor.
Emergency
  Accident and Emergency module allows fast registration of patients admitted through A & E Department. It facilitates the capture of key registration details such as minimum demographics, payment, and casualty details such as accident date and time, location and the police case number in case of medico legal cases.
IPD Billing
  In Patient Department Billing is a module for generating bills for patients. Billing will be activated the moment a patient comes to the hospital and gets registered and is given a unique IP ID. The module takes into account the complete billable information right from the admission date & time to the discharge date & time. It performs the calculations of the total amount to be paid by the patient taking into consideration the various billable services, indents, and requisitions placed in favor of the patient.
Ward Information System
  This module handles all the processes involved in the daily transactions that occur in a Ward. These transactions involve Test requisitions for the patient, medicines and any other consumables consumed by the patient, bedside procedures performed, Medical Equipment connected to the patient and recording of all the visits by the doctor. The details regarding all these transactions are stored in the server and later used by the billing software at the time of bill-generation.

  The module handles all the processes involved in the daily transactions that occur in an ICU. The details regarding all these transactions are stored in the server and are later on used by the billing module at the time of bill-generation.
Auto-Discharge Summary
  The module captures all the relevant data from ADT module, Wards, Pharmacy, Lab, OT and other departments and puts them into the discharge summary report automatically. Hence the amount of manual transcription gets reduced significantly thus automating the generation of discharge summary.
Laboratory
  Laboratory module provides integrated and comprehensive facilities for performing test ordered by healthcare providers, outpatient or inpatient. The system provides the facility to help the department in their workflow management.
  This module facilitates the user in displaying and printing various test requisitions received from different wards, out patients and other hospitals. It shows the status of the tests, samples, test results, report generation of the test results etc. It also lets the Lab physicians view the entire clinical chart of the patient. The following are the seven different specialty labs for which the lab module can be configured to meet the requirements.

Operation Theatre
  The OT module maintains record of the Surgeries undergone by the patient. It maintains the name of the surgeon / consultant performing the operation, details of anesthesia, consumables, equipment used and any exclusive products ordered for the patient.
 

This module performs scheduling of surgeries and associated equipments, tracking of consumables and drugs used in the surgery, and interfaces with patient billing to capture all services rendered and/or consumables used.

Phlebotomy
  The phlebotomy module captures data related to sample collection for ordered lab investigations. All information related to mapping the samples to the respective patients and the respective Labs are captured in the module.
OPD Pharmacy
  Out Patient Pharmacy module addresses the maintenance of inventory for drugs and other pharmacy items of an Out Patient Pharmacy. The major functions of OP pharmacy are supply specification, receiving, inventory control, and dispensing of medicines according to prescriptions of physicians, and billing for the same.
IPD Pharmacy
  This module facilitates dispensing of pharmaceutical items to in-patients. It communicates with the ward and billing modules.
  This module aids the pharmacists in dispensing prescriptions sent by the Wards and Clinics. The nurse places an order to the pharmacy based on the doctor’s prescription for patients. The prescription appears in the pharmacy module. Any new / misspelled drug ordered by the nurse is mapped to the existing drugs. If it is a new drug and does not exist it is added in the pharmacy records.
MIS Reports
  Management Information System enables the user to retrieve information from the database in a user-defined format. Different MIS reports are provided at module level and centrally for use by the management. It supports dynamic querying to build customized reports.
Administration
  The Master Tables for all the modules are created /modified through this module. The module gives the user options to configure multi level users’ access, Master data maintenance, Deal Designer, Tariff Maintenance, Configuration of Users/Modules and other processes.
Security & Identity Management
  Identity Management System forms the core of the HIS. It authenticates and authorizes each action of the user, besides creating an audit trail. It is based on the Role based Security Model. The Security model fits in the three tiers (Presentation, Business and Data) of the PALASH™ -HIS DNA Architecture. The Administration interface of the security Model will allow the Hospital management to configure all the security features it exposes.
  The Identity Management System is a part of PALASH™ Modules authenticating and authorizing every action of the user.
F & B
  This module has the ability to automatically receive dietary orders from ordering healthcare provider or wards. It has the capability to build user-defined orders and diet information. The module is interfaced with Patient Billing for automated billing of meals served to the patients.
Diet & Nutrition
  The module facilitates the dietician to give diet as prescribed by the doctor and gives the information about Patient diet during his stay in the hospital. It also facilitates Dietician to give Diet as per patient’s physiological condition as prescribed by the Doctor. Allows the maintenance of Diet Scheduling, Diet Chart request and supports full workflow of the Diet & Nutrition department.
Marketing
  The marketing module of the PALASH™ - HIS is integrated with the other departments of the hospital. The primary function of this module is to present department wise work load statistics based on the existing data, and keep track of activities of marketing department of hospital.
  Marketing module provides comprehensive facilities for displaying different reports based on flexible criteria. The system also helps the department in their workflow management.
Housekeeping
  Gives details about the status of the beds and rooms that need to be attended by housekeeping department Discharged and transferred patients are flagged in this module so that House-keeping personnel can immediately clean and make room ready for the next patient. It also keeps track of the items that are either lost or found in the hospital premises.
Centralized Sterile Supply Department
  This module keeps track of the items to be sterilized from various Departments like OT, Cath Lab, ICU, Emergency, Ward. It allows the users to track the Inventory of items in the form of Packs and Individual Items received by the CSSD for sterilization.
Biomedical Equipment Management
  This module captures all equipment complaints and tracks equipment annual maintenance contracts and required Inventory information. All equipments’ Log Cards are maintained within this module. Bio medical equipment module follows AAMI standards and includes cost center attributes and clinical attributes.
Electronic Patient Folder
  Electronic Patient Folder gives the history of the patient starting from the date of Admission to Discharge. The EPF is based on the UHID concept and capture patient Episodes for all Out Patient visits and Inpatient admissions.
  All Investigations performed, Drugs administered, Diagnostics, Surgeries, and/or Procedures carried out, Doctor’s Progress notes and Surgeon’s notes etc are captured in the EPF centrally during the patient episodes.
  EPF also allows entering all OPD & IPD activities related to the patient from a single window.
Medical Records Management
  This module gives the users the ability to quickly and efficiently identify and locate the physical location of a medical record within the MRD department. It allows the facility to provide a summary of patient episodes by diagnosis, procedures performed and the medical provider who performed the procedure.
  This module has the capability to produce the necessary Medical Reports for both Inpatient and Outpatient encounter episodes. It also provides a dynamic reporting tool to produce variety of reports needed.
Health Plan
  Preventive HealthCare Plans consist of several tests the patient can undergo at reduced costs when compared to the expenses he would incur when undergone individually. This module helps create and manage such plans.
Cardiology Investigations
  This module is interfaced with the main HIS and receives requests for tests from the Points of Care. The system provides interface for entry of results, which are then transferred to the patient’s ward/doctor.
Radiology Information Systems
  Radiology module provides integrated and comprehensive facilities for the Radiology Department. It includes Work List, Result Reporting, and Film Consumption, Inventory etc, covering both Inpatient and Outpatient. It has comprehensive MIS reports, and can show status of tests, test results, report generation of the test results etc.
Cardiac Cath Lab
  This module records the Cath-procedures performed on the patients, name of doctor performing the procedure and its date & time. Allows Scheduling, Utilization, Consumable Orders, capturing of Entry procedure, viewing Case Sheets, and add or delete new orders for Cath-Procedures.
Specialty
  Specialty Module provides integrated and comprehensive facilities for performing specialty wise procedures ordered by Physicians for outpatients. The module allows users to create configurable screens for the parameters of a specialty procedure such as dialysis. The mode of entering the data for each parameter can also be specified - whether it will be in the form of free text, selection from a list, rows and columns, sub heading or images.
Blood Blank
  This module handles all the processes involved in the transactions of issuing and receiving of blood by blood bank. The module has the capability to maintain and retrieve blood donor information such as name, address, blood type etc. Features include printing questionnaires for blood donors and handle all the processes involved in the transactions of issuing and receiving of blood by blood bank.
Physician
  The Physician’s module of PALASH - HIS provides the functionality to generate/view test requisitions, drug orders, bedside procedures and medical equipment orders for his patients. It also provides the facility to view patient’s folder.
Human Resources
  Human Resources module has the ability to benchmark and measure workloads and operational efficiencies of nurses and staff. It will help the hospital administrator to efficiently utilize HR by shifting nurses from areas where the workload per nurse is very low to areas where it is very high.
Payroll
  Payroll module has the ability to manage monthly / daily salary payments of all operational & support staff of the Hospital

  Accounts receivables is a module for maintaining profiles of different Corporate/Insurance companies having tie ups with the hospital.
Package deal designer
  This module is a combination of services with predefined limits. Limits can be at service level or at item level or at both levels. Packages can be defined for all tariffs.
Contract management
  Allows the Hospital to define the Contract based on Company type, Tariff and set the limits based on the employee eligibility.
  Limits can be defined on services and/or on items of the service. Based on the limits specified, the bill will be segregated into two parts - One for the company (company bill) and the other for the patient (exclusion bill). Whenever the bill crosses the defined limits then employee has to pay the additional amount.
Cash-less management
  The module allows the Hospital to provide facility to Patients for Medical Insurance Claims & Cashless system. It has provisions for verifying sponsorship letters along with segregating Patient bills into insurance covered bill and exclusion bill for patient self payment.
Interface
 
Lab equipment
  Lab equipments like Auto analyzer, Blood Gas Analyzer, Cell Counter etc. can be interfaced to HIS, Test results captured from these Equipments are directly posted into the HIS. Results can be viewed in Point of Cares like Wards, ICU, Physician’s Module and Emergency.

Gas Monitoring
  Gas monitoring equipment is meant for monitoring the pressure of various medical gases within an ICU where the patient is kept on ventilator support. It also has an external sensor provided, for monitoring the temperature and relative humidity of the ICU.
  The GMS Interface software will give a Graphical display of status of Temperature, Vacuum, Air, Oxygen and Humidity for every 15 Sec’s. All the GMs equipments are centrally connected the information is displayed in the ICU and the Maintenance department for monitoring.
Telephone Exchange
  The telephone exchange of the hospital i.e., the EPABX system can be interfaced and linked to HIS for ease in tracking the telephone calls made by the patient or attendants from the room and they can be billed accordingly.
SMS & Paging gateway
  SMS/paging services, which have been developed based on Windows DNA Architecture, have numerous applications. Equipments can be set with specific reference rages for lab test results, and if the results are abnormal the equipment will SMS/page the doctor mapped to the test. It allows the users to store frequently used messages, and retrieve them whenever they are required. In order to send a message, the user can select one from the existing messages list, and can edit or delete existing messages. This saves time while sending messages and minimizes user effort.
PACS
  PACs/Radworks(RW) manages the “workflow” in the radiology department. By integrating HIS with RW, HIS worklist will be displayed in the RW and reporting can be done from the RW terminal, which can be viewed from HIS applications and vice versa. By using the web viewer, the selected patient image can be viewed from HIS application. Images and reports can be viewed by clinicians from Nursing stations, OT, Cath Lab etc.
Web interface
  PALASH™ provides web based interface for its Doctor Console; this interface provides access for Doctors to manage patient data from remote location in terms of Case Paper, Prescription and Consulting on Investigation reports.
  PALASH™ also provides web based interface for registered users (either Doctor Community or Patient or his/her kin) for viewing reports, progress and current status on diagnosis, investigation and treatment.

Purchase (General & Pharmacy)
  The purchase module allows placing of orders with vendors, acknowledgement of receipt of material and enables all purchase related functions.
Receiving bay
  Receiving bay or station is a place where entries of materials which come against a purchase order are made. The following details are entered: Items received, the total quantity, free quantity if any received etc.
Main stores (General & Pharmacy)
  This system seamlessly integrates the purchase department, sub-stores and various consumption-points (like wards, departments etc.,) in the hospital making acquisition, consumption and distribution of medical and non-medical materials easy to handle. With the aid of appropriate reports, stock of materials at different stores can be checked and maintained. The system finally interfaces with hospital billing system.
